To the editor:
I was inspired by a recent letter in the Daily Journal by Barbara Leviner Jackson. She was right on in her assessment that crime does not pay.
I have also heard these young punks say outside the courthouse, “They ain’t got nuttin’ on me.”
At the very moment you decide you are going to live the thug life, your life is already over right then. You will always be a burden on working people. They will have to feed you, clothe you and pay for you to be locked in a steel cage and watched 24 hours a day. Your life is already over while you are still young.
Ninety-five percent of you will get out and stay on hard drugs for the rest of your life. That will cost the hell out of working people, too. You will always hate any form of law enforcement. That hate will make some of you even try to take their guns away from them.
Don’t ever try to take a cop’s gun. That alone will give him all reason to stop you by any means necessary, and the fault will be on you. Don’t do it.
