To the editor:
I applaud the July 17 response letter by Douglas Smith titled “Boyhood stories shine, but Obama-bashing gets old” in response to a column written by Robert Lee. I will be residing here for the next eight to 10 months taking care of a business venture. I have been reading the Daily Journal each day, and 99 percent of the news and opinions about the president have been negative. What ever happened to fair and balanced?
That is why I was surprised to see an article actually praising and supporting President Obama, especially after inheriting the mess that President Bush left him like a bad economy, two wars and a hateful, disrespectful and say-no-to-everything Republican Party that refuses to do anything good for the United States if the president is involved.
Thank you for showing that not all of us hate the president. As my final words on the subject, I will say “Thanks, Mr. President, for trying to get health care for all and not just a few — despite all the objections and foolishness.”
