A community workshop for older adults and family caregivers will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 12 at the Church of God of Prophecy at 610 Cheraw Road in Hamlet.

The workshop is titled “Living Longer: Stay Informed, Connected and At Home” and is sponsored by the Family Caregiver Support Program at the Lumber River Council of Governments.

The keynote speaker will be Swarna Reddy from the NC Division of Aging and Adult Services who will discuss the types of services seniors will need as they grow older.

Other speakers will talk about hospice services, Alzheimer’s disease, elder abuse and legal services. A short presentation will follow by a panel of provider agencies to answer questions about local services, eligibility, costs and waiting lists.

Attendants must be registered by Thursday. For information, call Richmond County Aging Services at 910-997-4491 or email aco@lrcog.org to reserve a seat.
