Mark your calendars event planners and future brides: The Piedmont Bridal Show is coming to town.

The event will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Cole Auditorium in Hamlet. It is open to adults and admission is free. It is a regional bridal expo that will be showcasing local wedding professionals and merchants. There will be door prizes handed out throughout the day along with a grand prize handed out at the end of the event.

The show is sponsored by Richmond Community College, The Bridal Nook, Belk, Dorsett Printing, Wings of Love and Ward Productions.

“It is a great opportunity for future brides to see what vendors are available to them,” said Sharon Nichols, show organizer. “Everything you could need will be under one roof in one day. You could plan the entire wedding at the show.”

This will be the third year for the show, and it has done its job in showing local options for wedding essentials.

“A lot of brides think they need to leave Richmond County to get the services they need for a wedding, but this show demonstrates that there are a lot of vendors here locally,” Nichols said.

Last February a total of 70 brides and 300 people attended the show.

“It really was a terrific turnout,” said Joey Bennett, director of Cole Auditorium. “There was a lot to learn at the event including the fact that the Cole Auditorium is available to rent for such occasions. It’s not only for people planning right now, but those planning for the future.”

Through Monday afternoon, Nichols said the show currently has 40 vendors signed up for the day. Those vendors include caterers, cake designers, florists, photographers and many others.

Nichols said that the event has helped boost local business. Vendors have contacted her from past shows to say they were able to book events because of the information available at the show.

“Brides come from all around too,” said Robin Hutchinson, selling team manager at Belk. “Brides from Bennettsville (S.C.) and Cheraw (S.C.) have attended this event. It helps draw outside consumers to Richmond County businesses.”

Nichols also noted that the event isn’t just for those looking to get married. It is also a hot spot for anyone looking for options to plan any kind of special event coming up.

Nichols said that merchants have contributed services for the door prizes that will be handed out during the day. The grand prize in the past has been a full set of china from Belk, and it will likely be the grand prize for this year’s event.

Brides who pre-register will be entered into the prize drawings twice. Those that register at the door will be entered into the drawings once. You can pre-register at www.piedmontbridalshow.com.

Anyone interested in being a vendor at the event, or interested in more information on the show, can contact Nichols at piedmontbridal@mnlsn.com.
