Three Richmond County students received recognition and cash for posters they produced to help promote Richmond County Crime Stoppers.

Each year, students are encouraged to create orignial artwork displaying the Crime Stoppers phone number and slogan, school system spokeswoman Mallory Brown said.

Crime Stoppers seeks anonymous tips from area residents in order to solve open criminal cases and locate fugitives. The group offers cash rewards for information that leads to an arrest.

Venus Gordon at the Ninth Grade Academy placed first in the contest this year and received a check for $75. Her poster will be reproduced and displayed in local law enforcement agencies, businesses and schools in the county.

Jenna Graham, a junior at Richmond Senior High School, placed second and received a $50 check. Abbie Hudson, another Richmond Senior High junior, placed third in the poster contest and received a check for $25.

Abby Calhoun of Rockingham Middle School was selected as an honorable mention in the contest.
