The town of Dobbins Heights is opening up a warming center tonight and Wednesday night to help people have a safe, warm place to stay during the expected snow storm.

Mary Magee, town clerk, said Pastors Linda and Mordecai Ross have agreed to open up their church, Faith Assembly Outreach, from 6 p.m to 10 p.m. The church is located at 144 Daniels St., Dobbins Heights.

From 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday, the town will open up its community center, located at 195 Daniels St.

Magee said people can stop by for a bite to eat, or hot tea or coffee “to warm up out of the weather.”

Dobbins Heights and Richmond County is expecting up to 5 inches of snow to fall between late Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning. To be sure, it’s going to be cold. The National Weather Service expects an overnight low Tuesday into Wednesday of 17 degrees with winds between 8 mph and 13 mph.

The low temperate Wednesday night into Thursday is to be about 10 degrees.
