HAMLET — Sandhills Regional Medical Center’s environmental services team was recently named No. 1 for patient satisfaction in the Community Health Systems chain for the months of October and November.

The Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey results reported 100 percent patient satisfaction in cleanliness of environment in August and October. Sandhills’ November survey reported 94.5 patient satisfaction in cleanliness of environment.

“This is a great honor for us,” said Sandhills CEO David Clay. “This is an acknowledgement of the positive changes we have made over the last year. We know how well our environmental services team does in terms of cleanliness. The fact that patients have validated and verified it, means even more because it comes from them.

“From the cleanliness and condition of patient rooms to the food we serve, the entire team at Sandhills Regional Medical Center is dedicated to delivering a health care experience that leaves every patient very satisfied with the services we provide.”

HCAHPS is a standardized survey instrument and data collection methodology for measuring patients’ perspectives on hospital care. The HCAHPS Survey is composed of 27 items with 18 substantive items that encompass critical aspects of the hospital experience: communication with doctors, communication with nurses, responsiveness of hospital staff, cleanliness of the hospital environment, quietness of the hospital environment, pain management, communication about medicines, discharge information, overall rating of hospital and recommendation of hospital.

One hundred percent is the highest survey score a facility can achieve.

“I am proud of my team and the work they do every day to make cleanliness a priority at Sandhills Regional,”said J.L. Woodard, the hospital’s environmental services director.
