PINEHURST — Police are searching for a missing and endangered man, 64-year-old George Salisbury Barnhart.


The N.C. Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert for Barnhart at 8:09 p.m. Friday. Authorities ask anyone with information on his whereabouts to call police.


Barnhart is described as a white man who is 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs 215 pounds. He has short white hair and blue eyes and was last seen wearing a light-colored polo shirt and khaki shorts. A photograph was unavailable Friday night.


Barnhart may be driving a light-brown 2001 Nissan Pathfinder SUV with North Carolina license plate CES 4496.


Officials said Barnhart was last seen at 29 La Quinta Loop in Pinehurst. The location of the incident connected with his disappearance is listed as 20 Riviera Drive.


Silver Alerts are issued for individuals who are believed to be suffering from dementia or another cognitive impairment.


Anyone with information on Barnhart is asked to call Officer R.K. Szurgot at the Pinehurst Police Department, 910-295-3141.
