RALEIGH — The North Carolina Friends of Forestry Political Action Committee presented North Carolina Sen. Tom McInnis, R-Richmond, with a Friend of Forestry Award this October during the North Carolina Forestry Association’s Annual Meeting held in Asheville.

“We appreciate Sen. McInnis’ support of forest landowners, our forest products industry, and rural economies in general,” FFPAC Chairman Ashley Faircloth, said in a statement. “Sen. McInnis has a proven track record of encouraging the health of our working farms and forests in the face of an urbanizing North Carolina. We are proud to have him as a member of the North Carolina Forestry Association and even happier to recognize his efforts in Raleigh with this award.”

The Friends of Forestry Political Action Committee is non-partisan and not affiliated with any political party and is registered with the North Carolina State Board of Elections. The FFPAC was created in 1999 to provide financial assistance to candidates for statewide political office who support forestry and the forest products industry.

The FFPAC hopes to educate as many state lawmakers as possible about the important role forests play in boosting rural economies while providing valuable environmental benefits for all North Carolinians, according to a statement.
