A CAR WASH, FISH FRY AND YARD SALE will be held in the main parking lot of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 1596 Hwy 74 East, from 8 a.m. until.

PEKIN VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT, which serves south central Montgomery county and north central Richmond County, is having an all-you-can-eat country breakfast at the Pekin Community Building (next to the PVFD) from 6 to 11 a.m. There is no set price as we are asking for donations to help us equip a new fire engine which we will receive later this year to replace our 1990 model. We are also having a 50/50 raffle (the winner will get half the proceeds from the raffle ticket sales) with the drawing at 11 a.m.

3RD ANNUAL SENIOR CITIZENS ART SHOW “ON THE PORCH” will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at Ellerbe Springs Inn. The event is free but donations will be accepted to go towards much needed art supplies. Refreshments will be served. Richmond County’s senior centers’ art students will be displaying their paintings, drawings and photographs on the front porch. THE ANNUAL LISENBY REUNION will be held at Hopewell Baptist Church in Chesterfield, South Carolina at 12:45 p.m. The church is located on S.C. Hwy 9, west of Chesterfield. Church services will begin at 10 a.m. Bring your favorite food.

HAMLET HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF OF 1959 will hold it’s 58th reunion at The Ballroom in Hamlet from 6 to 10 p.m.

HAMLET FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH will serve its monthly breakfast on Saturday, April 29, from 7 to 10 a.m. Plates for $5 include eggs, two meats, grits, biscuit and gravy, juice and coffee. Takeouts are available.

THE NATIONAL ALLIANCE ON MENTAL ILLNESS of Moore County is offering the Family to Family course free to family members, caregivers, and friends of those with mental illnesses. The course begins May 13 and will run subsequent Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings until June 17. Participants will learn all current information about the severe and persistent mental illnesses and addictive disorders, up-to-date information about medications and current research. PANCAKE BREAKFAST, sponsored by the East Rockingham United Methodist Church Men’s Club, will run from 7 to 10 a.m. in the church fellowship hall, all you can eat for $4. There will also be a sweets and crafts sale at the same time.
