Miss Ania Elizabeth Spytkowski and Tyler Jayson English were united in marriage on April 23, 2016 at two o’clock in the afternoon. The traditional Catholic ceremony took place at Saint Mark Catholic Church in Huntersville, North Carolina. Deacon Louis Pais was the officiating minister.

The bride is the daughter of Ms. Elizabeth Spytkowski and the late Mr. Longin Spytkowski of Huntersville. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jakub Spytkowski. Her maternal grandparents are Ms. Aniela Domurat and the late Mr. Stanislaw Domurat. Ania is a 2012 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. While attending UNC-Charlotte, Ania was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She is employed by Carolinas Healthcare System as a registered nurse with Charlotte Medical Center in Charlotte.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Jay English of Wallace. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Leroy English of Wallace and Mr. Alexander P. Bullard of Rockingham, Ms. Mamie Oxendine and the late Roosevelt Oxendine of Hamlet. Tyler is a 2012 graduate of Winthrop University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Integrated Marketing Communications. While studying at Winthrop, Tyler was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. He is currently employed with Zero Waste Recycling of Lancaster, South Carolina, as the director of industrial services.

Marking the church pews were stemmed white hydrangeas with white, hand-tied bows of double-faced satin ribbon. The unity and memorial candles were brought from Poland, the bride’s parents’ birthplace.

Special music was performed by Charlotte Strings Academy throughout the ceremony.

The bride was given in marriage by her three brothers, Martin Spytkowski of Largo, Florida, Michael Spytkowski of Leland and Mark Spytkowski of Huntersville. Her satin couture gown featured a sweetheart neckline with a Swarovski crystal applique positioned at the waist. The gown included a custom scooped back, with draped off-the-shoulder sleeves and a 3-point French bustle. The fingertip-length tulle veil was handmade by the bride’s mother with crystals, also from Poland.

The bride carried a bouquet of keira garden roses in blush, white escimo roses, vendela cream roses and white hydrangeas.

Mrs. Amanda Bolatete of Charleston, South Carolina, was matron of honor alongside Miss Megan Balot, also of Charleston, as maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Miss Theresa Benson of Cornelius, Miss Amanda Blackburn of Raleigh, Miss Courtney Howe of Cornelius, Miss Erica Jackson of Mooresville and Mrs. Hannah Simmons, the bridegroom’s sister, of Charlotte.

Each attendant wore mesh mystic gray floor length dresses that featured v-necklines and swooping cowl-draped backs.

Mr. William Simmons III of Charlotte served as best man.

Ushers were Kevin Beahm of Charlotte, Alex Cooley of Wagram, Brantley Fraiser of Charleston, South Carolina, Frankin Kinard of Charleston, South Carolina, Jospeph Quiminer of Charlotte and Randall Royer also of Charlotte.

Miss Campbell Simmons, the bridegroom’s niece, served as flower girl while Master Hudson Simmons, the bridegroom’s nephew, was ring bearer.

The bride’s three brothers read special scripture during the ceremony.

Mrs. Whitney Chick of Columbia, South Carolina, guestbook attendant, and Miss Sarah Schutrum of Huntersville greeted guests. Mrs. Kris Brodof served as director.

The bride’s family honored the wedding couple with a reception following the ceremony at River Run Country Club in Davidson. Mr. and Mrs. Luke Selzer of Charlotte and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Sullivan of Rock Hill, South Carolina, greeted guests upon arrival.

A four-tier wedding cake of assorted flavors with a white-chocolate fondant icing that was decorated with Swiss dots, scattered silver pearls and hydrangea-petaled round tiers to mimic the bride’s bouquet was served.

Hors d’oeuvres of beef tenderloin on potato gaufrett, mini crab cakes and shrimp and goat cheese tortillas were served during cocktail hour. Guests also enjoyed chicken Florentine, a prime rib carving station accompanied with assorted breads, lemon dill salmon, a mashed potato bar, a macaroni and cheese bar and a grilled seasonal vegetable medley of zucchini, squash and green beans.

Entertainment was provided by DJ Marty of Davidson.

After a wedding trip to the Caribbean Island of Saint Lucia, the couple will make their home in Charlotte.

A dinner following the rehearsal on Friday, April 22, was given by the bridegroom’s parents at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte. In addition to various candles, vases of fresh greenery and spring blossoms including white and blue hydrangeas, served as centerpieces. Mr. Luke Selzer of Charlotte offered a blessing before the meal was served.

Guests enjoyed an appetizer nacho station followed by dinner featuring grilled chicken, barbequed pork, and angus beef burgers alongside a gourmet slider station. A southern BLT salad, coleslaw, baked beans and fresh baked rolls were also on the menu. The groom’s cake, made to resemble his late-model stock car, was made of buttercream icing and Oreo cookie cake.

An engagement party was given in the couple’s honor on January 30, 2016 at 6 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Avant Simmons III in Charlotte. Guests enjoyed Texas Hold ‘Em, Roulette and Blackjack while mingling, enjoying dinner and cold beverages.

The couple and their guests enjoyed a dinner menu consisting of grilled beef tenderloin, chicken bites, meatballs, pasta salad, an assortment of cheeses and fruits, along with pimento cheese bites. Guests enjoyed cheesecake bites and homemade cookies for dessert.

The buffet table was decorated with black linens, candles and coordinating red, black, white and silver décor.

Special guests included mother of the bride, Ms. Elizabeth Spytkowski of Huntersville and mother and father of the groom, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Jay English of Wallace, South Carolina.

A bridal shower was given in the bride’s honor on April 9, 2016 at noon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Travis John Chick in Columbia, South Carolina. The shower was happily hosted by Mrs. Brenda Bryant of Wallace, South Carolina, Mrs. Whitney Chick of Columbia, South Carolina, Ms. Ginger Floyd of Bennettsville, South Carolina, and Mrs. Hannah Simmons of Charlotte.

The bride-elect and her guests enjoyed a lunch menu consisting of veggie pizza, meatballs, pimento cheese nut sandwiches, cucumber rounds, chicken salad cups and pasta salad. For dessert, guests enjoyed lemon bars and petit fours. Pink raspberry punch, mimosas, sweet tea and water were also served.

The buffet table was decorated with a fresh spring garland, candles and coordinating spring accents throughout the home.

After mingling and enjoying lunch together, attendants showered Ania with gifts to begin the couple’s journey.

Special guests included mother of the bride, Ms. Elizabeth Spytkowski of Huntersville, mother of the groom, Mrs. Sarah Katherine English of Wallace, South Carolina, and grandmother of the groom, Ms. Mamie Oxendine, of Hamlet.
