In celebration of Valentine’s Day, the Richmond County Daily Journal held a Famous Lover’s Contest. Michelle Beck, of Rockingham, has been selected as the winner.
The prize was a $100 Visa gift card, which Beck picked up from the Daily Journal office on Wednesday morning.
The contest consisted of 10 questions that hinted to famous lovers and one tie-breaker question. The questions consisted of things like “She saved his life when her daddy wanted to club him,” “Wherefore art thou,” “She helped him rob from the rich,” and “Guess who’s coming to dinner?” The answers listed famous lovers for the contestant to choose from, such as Romeo and Juliet, Scarlett O’Hara and Rhett Butler, John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Spencer Tracy and Audrey Hepburn, and Rocky Balboa and Adrian Pennino.
Beck answered all of the questions correctly, including the tie-breaker. She said that she didn’t realize that the last question was a tie-breaker.
She is a homemaker with four children; Carson, 9, Lilah, 6, Carter, 4, and Ellie Kate 16 months. Her husband of 13 years is Robert Beck.
Beck said she will use the money to put gas in her 2010 Chevrolet Suburban, which takes about $88 to fill up the tank.
Beck said she found out she was the winner when Daily Journal Publisher Rick Bacon contacted her through Facebook.
“He tried to contact me by email and I thought it was spam, so I didn’t know I had won,” she said.
She said she is very excited.
