Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday

March 7, 2014

Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday morning — which means employers and teachers should prepare for a sleepier than usual Monday as we all adjust to waking an hour sooner.

The official time to set your clocks forward one hour is 2 a.m. Sunday, though many choose to do so before they turn in for the night on Saturday.

On Friday, sunrise was at 6:40 a.m. and sunset arrived at 6:19 p.m. On Sunday, after the time change, sunrise isn’t until 7:37 a.m. Sunset will be 7:21 p.m.

Despite the dreary, wet and cold weather of Thursday and Friday, this weekend’s forecast calls for sunny skies both Saturday and Sunday with temperatures in the mid-60s and approaching 70 on Monday.

The first day of Spring is March 20.
